WaveSurfer is a powerful audio visualization software that allows users to record and analyze audio files. It enables you to observe the waveform of audio files, examine the characteristics of data signal resonant peaks, and view the spectrogram of video and speech data signals. Here's how to use it:
Recording Audio:
Before recording, right-click on the empty panel and select "Properties" to set the sampling rate, sample precision, and number of channels for your video and speech data signals.
Click the red "Record Video" button on the main interface to start recording. Once done, click the gray "Stop" button to save the audio file.
Observing Audio Waveforms:
2.1 To observe the waveform of an audio file, right-click on it and choose "Create Pane" > "WaveForm". This will allow you to view the frequency domain waveform of the analog signal.
You can also select a specific portion of the frequency domain waveform with the left mouse button to play the corresponding video segment.
By selecting the waveform panel, you can zoom in on the waveform to observe the short-time periodic characteristics of the video and speech data signals.
Right-click on the waveform panel and choose "Waveform Blow Up" to observe the short-time frequency domain waveform, which is the short-time Fourier transform of the video and speech data signals.
Right-click on a specific point on the waveform and select "Spectrum Section" to analyze the resonant peak characteristics of the data signal.
2.2 To view the spectrogram of an audio file, right-click on it and choose "Create Pane" > "Spectrogram". This will allow you to observe the spectrogram of the video and speech data signals.
You can customize the spectrogram color by right-clicking on the spectrogram and selecting "Properties" > "Spectrogram".
2.3 If you find that there are too many panels displaying information, you can right-click on the desired panel and choose "Delete Pane" to remove it.
