BetterZip is a renowned compression and decompression software for Mac, akin to Winrar on Windows platforms. Software Features

(1) Creation and Updating

BetterZip can create and update archives in formats such as ZIP, TAR, TGZ, TBZ, TXZ, 7-ZIP, and XAR using external command-line utilities. It also removes Mac-specific files from archives to ensure they appear and behave correctly on Windows.

(2) Opening and Extracting

BetterZip supports opening and extracting over 30 archive formats, including ZIP, TAR, TGZ, TBZ, TXZ, 7-ZIP, RAR, Apple Disk Image (DMG), TNEF (winmail.dat), ARJ, LHA, LZH, ISO, CHM, CAB, CPIO/CPGZ, DEB, RPM, StuffIt's SIT and SITX, BinHex, MacBinary, ePub, JAR/WAR/EAR/SAR/PAR/WSR Java archives, CBZ/CBR e-books, GZip, BZip2, and WIM.

(3) Protecting Your Data

Your data is safeguarded with robust AES-256 encryption.

BetterZip's password manager can compile a list of archive passwords in your keychain and automatically use them when opening encrypted archives.

(4) Finder Integration

BetterZip allows you to add configurable services to the macOS Services menu and integrates all preset Finder toolbar tools with a new Finder extension.

(5) Presets

You can create presets in BetterZip for both creating and extracting archives. These presets gather all settings applicable to archives, from target folders and archive formats to passwords, and can even execute scripts after operations are completed.

(6) Filtering

BetterZip can filter out unwanted files during the extraction process, eliminating unnecessary items like Thumbs.db and other system files. It can also prevent files from being added to your archives initially, ensuring that hidden version control folders or backup files are not archived.
